Bali got loud, but there's a quieter island underneath it. So we skipped the beach clubs, drove up through the rice paddies, sat in the warung with three tables and a woman who cooks like your grandmother, and slept in the villa where the pool spills into a canyon. What's left are the twenty-seven places we'd send a friend for their honeymoon. Ubud between 6 and 8am. A back lane in Canggu. Sidemen when the fog lifts.
